Level 1 Player (MT Novel) - Chapter 8
Chapter 8: Gwess Pete and Flower Sword
– Man, I didn’t have time to buy everything! – Gwess Pitt exclaimed disappointedly.
She thought she could buy anything, for she pressed buttons faster than she had time to read all the information. However, a competitor showed up and stole four items from under her nose.
– Whoever you are, I’ll get you!
Whether he lived in the underworld, heaven, or one of the worlds in between, he faced an agonizing death, for he bought these items faster than the queen of the underworld herself.
– What are they for? – Gwess Pitt began to stare at the six objects in her possession in amazement.
It was the first thing she had ever seen. A strange object with two translucent glasses. What was it supposed to be used for? That was something Gwess didn’t know.
“BLION” – strange letters were written on the long piece, but their meaning remained unclear. Gwess had a special skill that helped her understand the writing of other dimensions. But even with it, the meaning of the word could not be determined. It was logical. How could the queen of the underworld know the name of a Korean sunglasses brand?
Although Gwess Pitt didn’t know what it was, she decided it was a very, very unique item. It deserved to be in her collection. She continued to look at the other items, but she couldn’t figure out how to use them. It was like learning magic – if you don’t know exactly what to do, you can’t do the spell. And then…
“Tilly, tilly, tilly,” the strange object labeled “Game Boy” in her hands made some noises. The dark glass in the middle glowed brightly, and some kind of scenery appeared on it.
– Is it some kind of magical object? – Gwess wondered.
Surely she knew what games were and what battles were. However, she had no idea at all that it had anything to do with this object. She just decided that “Game Boy” was the name. No magical power she sensed in the thing. But, as the screen flashed on its own and displayed pictures and letters, the item clearly had something to do with magic.
– Ooh!” Gwess Pitt’s face began to take on a red hue.
It was a magical object that didn’t even have magic in it. Looking at it again, Gwess decided that the item was insanely valuable. If the queen were to show it to the other members of the association, their eyes would pop out of their sockets. So would she, because she too was a member of the association of black magicians. Gwess Pitt was interested in magic and researching magical items, so she pressed the start button without delay.
– I don’t know what that is, but let’s start there.
– Tilly, tilly, tilly,” the game started up with strange noises.
Gwess Pitt even found a strange pleasure in pressing buttons for fun.
A few hours later…
“Pooh! Pooh! Pooh! GAME OVER.”
– Shit, she’s dead again!” Gwess Pitt was in a hysterical fit.
She pressed the “start” button again, since she had already figured out how the console worked. She was back in the game again. Gwess was so engrossed in it that she didn’t notice the drool splattering in all directions. She had even forgotten the names of the other items she had bought today.
“Play! Play! Play!” – All her thoughts focused on one item.
The only thing she could think about now was play. Unaware that she had stepped on the “shaky” road, Gwess Pitt allowed herself to be taken over by gambling addiction.

– Well, how do you use it? I don’t understand it at all,” said the gray-haired beauty in the white coat, peering questioningly at the four objects in front of her.
Ever since she became a hermit, her only hobby was shopping with a special skill. Today she entered the shopping section as usual, and immediately her attention was drawn to the sound that signaled the appearance of new items. There was nothing special about them, they didn’t increase strength or any skills. They were simple trinkets. The only thing of interest about them was the fact that they were the first of their kind. At first she only wanted to buy one item, because it was very cheap (less than 100 million points even). But as soon as these items began to disappear from the list, her fingers moved at lightning speed. It wasn’t a choice of reason, but of instinct. That’s how she bought four items before she even had time to think and weigh the pros and cons.
Her name was Flower Sword, and she was a strong player. At one time she protected the common people from the monsters that had been appearing in the world for several thousand years. She was the very first among women, and among men too, to wear the honorary title of warrior… However, Flauer Sword saw such items for the first time in her life.
– I wonder what it’s all for?

There was some kind of black glass inserted into the strangely shaped bracelet instead of jewelry. Inside she could see some numbers. Flower assumed that they represented the Player’s power. But immediately the numbers changed.
– Oh,” Flower Sword’s face stretched in surprise. – The numbers change after a period of time.
She had an excellent sense of time herself, so she could predict when the numbers would change.
– Ah, it was an everyday object with which to tell time.
Certainly it was unusual, but useless to her. A wave of regret came over Flower Sword. However, now that she had bought them, she had to figure out how to use them. To find out the time, she put the bracelet on first. She pressed a button.
A brief flash followed by a faint glow.
– It began to glow.
It was amazing. Objects that don’t feel magic can emit light? This was the first time Flower Sword had ever seen such a thing. Also, when she pressed another button, the numbers began to change. With this thing it was possible to know not only the time, but something else as well.
– I think it was a very valuable thing.
The regret she had felt before disappeared in an instant. And Flower Sword proceeded to examine the other items.
– My God, what is this?
What caught her eye looked very much like some beautiful jewel. A strange square-shaped object.
– XX phone?
She had no idea what it meant. Curiously examining the object, the girl pressed one of the buttons. Nothing happened. Then Flower Sword pressed it again, but held it longer, after which the glass surface of the object shone brightly.
[MOBILE DATA.
IF YOU USE MOBILE DATA, YOU WILL BE CHARGED ACCORDING TO THE RATE. DO YOU WANT TO USE MOBILE DATA?]
– I have absolutely no idea what we’re talking about here.
Despite the fact that she could read what was written on the display, the meaning was very far from her. So Flower Sword simply pressed the “YES” button.
[NETWORK REGISTRATION FAILED]
– Hmm,” her face contorted.
Then Flower Sword began to click on other icons. Since she had a special skill, the movements were familiar. When she pressed one of the icons, the light emitted changed, but did not go out altogether.
[NO NETWORK].
Her face contorted again in a grimace of dissatisfaction. No matter what she tried to do, nothing worked. But Flower Sword was not in the habit of backing down, so she continued poking at the glass surface of the object. Some of the writing she understood, some she didn’t. But then…
– Oh, dear! – She cried out in surprise.
An image of her face appeared on the screen of the object. She scrutinized it carefully from all sides.
– Is there something magical about it, if it can turn into a mirror? What could it be? – Frauer wondered. At the same moment the reflection in the object also became astonished.
– It seems to be quite a beautiful thing.
She pressed another button. The “smart” app immediately applied a photoshop effect. И…
“Click”-she accidentally pressed the camera button, and it took a picture. And the first photo, taken in confusion, showed only her red cheek. Flower Sword even thought it wasn’t her at all. Her heart was pounding frantically, and a strange feeling gripped her whole body. It had begun. Pandora’s Box had opened – the inner photographer in her had awakened.
“Click. Click,” the cycle of selfies and pretend selfies began.
