Level 1 Player (MT Novel) - Chapter 60
Chapter 60. Auction of Legendary Items (Part 2)
The bidding continued. The auctioneer revealed all the information about the items and skills, and representatives of the special squad that participated in the raid were now actively involved in the bidding.
– Any others wishing to bid? I’ll count to five. One, two, three, four, five. Sold! Congratulations! “The Black Dragon Spear goes to a player named Shin Yun Ah.
Despite the stiff competition, Shin Yoon Ah was able to get her hands on one weapon.
“No matter how you look at it, the Players don’t name the amount of funds they use…”
As it happens, the rankers never name their bets.
“It’s more likely that the bets are made by the organizations.”
Judging by the amount of money the State and Associations have invested in Shin Yoon Ah and me for a lifetime contract, the big guilds seem to be doing exactly the same. Despite my expectations, the bidding was very tight. But Shin Yoon Ah got all the items in one hand, one weapon and one skill. According to preliminary information, it took at least two trillion won to buy all that good stuff.
(P.P.: ~$1.68 billion at 07/27/19 exchange rates).
Now it was my turn to sell the last item, Revenge of Darkness. This was the first time I decided to make a bid. The competition was fiercer than ever. All Players “pounced” on this item, as they thought they might miss their last opportunity.
Actually, from an objective point of view, the Black Dragon’s Punishment skill book was very good, it was versatile, because it could be used freely by both tanks and fighters with healers.
Not surprisingly, I was the one who got the Black Dragon’s Punishment skill book.
“I guess I’ve lost my mind.”
In fact, I was not happy about my victory, as the size of my debts multiplied.
“I wonder if I won’t remain indebted to the Association after all?”
The rate is five percent per annum. It seems I miscalculated somewhere when I thought I could pay off all my debt before my contract ended.
“Did something happen?”
Shin Yoon Ah looked very sullen. She never received any messages after the name of the owner of the Black Dragon Spear was announced. The same thing happened after the results of the Black Dragon Rage bidding were announced. Not a single message, even though the girl had won the two items in the auction.
“Who the hell?!”
In fact, the girl began to be haunted by doubts ever since the raid successfully ended. All because she hadn’t received any notifications about receiving the “First” achievements. Although she was the one who slit Water Snake’s throat in the last minutes of his life, and the other achievements that appeared at that moment are irrefutable proof:
[Legendary Level Monster Hunter (Heroic)
[First Heroic Achievement (Heroic)]
But this achievement is a completely different breed. It could only mean one thing – someone else had obtained the title of heroic level. Previously, Shin Yun Ah hadn’t had to fight legendary level monsters, which was why the question ‘How can one obtain a legendary level achievement’ was the one that interested her the most.
But that wasn’t the only thing that worried Shin Yu Ah, there was also something else strange. The girl thought that she would be the one to take first place in the raid level because she had contributed the most to killing the monster. But she didn’t come in first place, she came in second. Besides, no one on the special squad bragged about getting first place. Of course, someone could have simply withheld information. But who could lie about their level when everyone in the raid was rewarded? There were so many questions swarming in her mind, but there were no answers.
Then Shin Yoon-ah went to the Players Association to conduct her own investigation into all the ranchers in other countries. She believed that some of them must have received an award [Achieved First Heroic Achievement (Heroic)] at some point.
The girl promised herself that she would never lose an achievement, but she still missed one. She became the first owner of a legendary weapon and a legendary skill. Based on her experience, the “First” heroic level achievement simply could not not exist! However, it simply did not exist. It happened for the first time.
When she fought the first heroic level monster, she ranked first in the raid, resulting in five “First” achievements of rare level: [Heroic level monster hunter (rare)], [First Rare achievement (rare)], [Contributor to killing a heroic level monster (rare)], [First Heroic weapon wielder (rare)], [First Heroic skill wielder (rare)].
In addition, the girl collected all rare level achievements, including [First Heroic Shield Holder (rare)], [First Heroic Accessory Holder].
Shin Yoon Ah is happy with her achievements, especially the “First Possessor.” This time she thought it would be exactly the same. But something went wrong.
“Who are you?!”

Shin Yoon-ah hoped to get absolutely every achievement, from [First Heroic Achievement (Legendary)] to [First Legendary Weapon Owner (Legendary)] to [First Legendary Skill Owner (Heroic)].
The girl didn’t know what other achievements she might have missed.
“You can’t get this achievement without taking part in a legendary-level monster hunt.”
But in fact, her statement is not quite correct. Shin Yoon Ah certainly killed the Water Snake, for which she received [Legendary Level Monster Hunter (Heroic)]. The mere fact of receiving this title already spoke volumes about Shin Yun Ah being the first Player to take out a legendary-level monster.
“And how on earth could that happen?”
The girl’s head was puffed up with all kinds of questions. Even though she was the first to kill a legendary level monster, who else could have gotten the heroic level achievement?
“I feel so guilty for Hyun Seong…”
The government really wanted Shin Yoon Ah to get the [First Legendary Weapon Holder (Legendary)] and [First Legendary Skill Holder (Heroic)] achievements. That’s why they sponsored her two auction items, Black Dragon Spear and Black Dragon Rage. The latter auction item, which went to Choi Hyun Seong, was deliberately allocated last because the two items were supposed to “gift” two new achievements.
Despite the fact that only Shin Yoon Ah and Choi Hyun Seong have special skills among all the members of the Players’ Association, the government tried to make sure that Shin Yoon Ah, unlike Hyun Seong, became stronger. The problem was that the government treated Choi Hyun Seong, who was only making a name and reputation for himself, and Shin Yoon Ah, who had proven her loyalty to the state, differently. In any case, the government bet on an established Player and personality instead of some newcomer that was still just growing and developing. They decided that a third item for Hyun Seong would be enough for him to gain and familiarize himself with a legendary skill.
Shin Yoon Ah didn’t tell Choi Hyun Seong about the “First” achievement. The government wasn’t listening to her anyway, and she herself was eager to get all the achievements. But she felt out of place, guilty, she felt like she was cheating on Hyun Seong because of her greed, which made her feel like she had committed some crime.
“I think I’m a complete fool!”
The accomplishments that caused the girl to hold back her emotions and feelings and feel remorse could have been received by someone she had never seen in her eyes. Besides, there was the first “First” achievement she couldn’t get. Besides, her eyes were overshadowed by greed and her conscience had faded into oblivion.
“If only I had told Hyun Seong the truth…”
Maybe telling the truth would have made her feel better.
– Yoon Ah, congratulations on winning the auction! If it’s okay with you, I’ll be going now,” I said.
In response, Shin Yoon Ah just nodded her head.
– Have you learned the skill yet?
– Then be careful.
The expression on the girl’s face is hard to match the intonation in her voice.
“Hmm, what’s with her?” – I thought and headed for the exit.
– I’m… I’m sorry.
– What?” I turned my head and asked. – What are you apologizing for?
– For the order of the lots in the auction. Actually, the government ordered the lots to be in… in the correct order. It was so that I could get the Firsts. What you got, they relegated to last place.
Once Shin Yoon-ah mentioned the achievements, I immediately remembered the messages that came up after the sword-hemolysis was improved.
[First owner of a legendary weapon (heroic)
[First legendary skill holder (heroic)]
“Ah, so that’s what this is about…”
I didn’t really follow the auction process much. But as it turned out, the government and Shin Yoon Ah, on the other hand, were watching every move and bid.
“Well, it couldn’t have been any other way.”
Apparently, Shin Yoon Ah has some kind of “First” achievement. The government knows this and promotes her in every way possible to get even more of them.
“It’s only natural.
Of course, the government officials saw me as a Player who was only going to sign a lifetime contract with them, while Shin Yoon Ah was to them a first-rate Player that belonged to the Association. Of course, I understand the government’s position and Shin Yoon Ah’s position, and I am not upset, as my relationship with the government can be described in one word: compromise.
Yes, it’s hard to envy Shin Yoon Ah in this situation. No matter what I say, she will compromise with the government and give in to her achievements. You can already guess from one apology what Shin Yoon Ah is like.
“Anyway, I have what I need.
I had hit the jackpot during the Water Snake raid. And I felt a little guilty towards Yoon Ah and the other members of the Special Forces because they were left in the dark even though they played a more important role in the battle than I did.
– Well, I understand. I understand the government’s position, and I understand yours, Shin Yoon Ah. I don’t think you should apologize for that,” I said with a smile. – If you don’t mind, I will take my leave.
I bowed my head in respect and walked out of the building where the auction was being held.
“Everything really doesn’t make sense,” Shin Yun Ah thought, clutching her head.
The girl was feeling some irritation over the “First” achievements. Hyun Seong, on the other hand, didn’t care at all. If she was honest, she could not only accept the government’s position but also laugh at the situation. But because of her greed, she couldn’t be honest.
“Next time, there’s no way you’ll do that, Yoon Ah.”
The girl had seen many Players change a lot after becoming ranchers. She had seen many politicians who had similarly changed their views and principles after working with the government. It was then that the girl promised herself that she would never do as they did. And yet something in her changed.
Her heart fluttered. And with it came a strong will. Shin Yoon Ah decided to herself that she would never do that again and would never deceive Hyun Seong.
“Well, it’s time to start studying.
When I got the skill book, I immediately stashed it away in Subspace. I didn’t know what might happen after studying it.
“I wonder if it will be absorbed by some skill book? Or will something else happen?”
Returning back to my abode, I pulled out the Subspace skill book, glowing with a dazzling golden glow.
[Do you wish to read the legendary book The Black Dragon’s Punishment?]
“Of course I do.”
[You cannot read the legendary book The Black Dragon’s Punishment]
“Is it absorbed?”
[The unique and heroic book Breath of Thunder and Lightning merged with the legendary book The Black Dragon’s Punishment]
[You now have the skill Thunder Breath of the Black Dragon]
“Breath of Thunder and Lightning” and “Punishment of the Black Dragon” became one.
“That’s not an absorption, that’s a merger!”
I didn’t quite understand what had happened, but the two skills, for some unknown reason, had become one. Before I knew it, a message came:
[Incredible Achievement (Heroic)
You have gained a uniquely legendary level skill for the first time.
Reward: the title [First Unique-Legendary Skill Holder (Legendary)]
In spite of everything, all my expectations were confirmed.
