Chapter 56 – Water Snake IV

The examination room was a small room, similar to an interrogation room in police stations. To my surprise, there was only one mirror.

“It looks a lot like an interrogator’s office from some movie,” I thought.

There was probably someone on the other side of the mirror, watching intently.

– Are you ready to start testing? – someone asked me.

I only nodded affirmatively in response, and a voice from the speakers answered:

– Good, then let’s get started.

– I will activate the psychological pressure skill “Majesty of the Queen”.

– This skill will be in effect for ten seconds.

– You have shown amazing resilience to the “Queen’s Majesty” skill.

After a moment, a message appeared saying that my mind attack defense skill matched the heroic level.

– Is that all?

– Yes, you passed the test,” a voice answered my question from the speakers.

South Korean ground troops, along with tanks and armored vehicles, crossed the border into North Korea. Fighter jets took to the airspace, and from the north, warships entered North Korean coastal waters. And a large-scale monster battle unfolded on North Korean territory. The absolute might of the army and the Players descended upon the creatures.

South Korea is one of the top 10 strongest armies in the world. The level of Players in the country is just as high. The South Korean Players swept away everyone in their path, both ordinary monsters and rare ones with heroic ones. Meanwhile, the army was moving fairly quickly deep into North Korea and was already beginning recovery operations.

“It’s going like clockwork,” I thought to myself as I watched the firepower of the army and the rangers sweep away the drake, whose stomach I almost died in, in its path. In spite of everything, I supported the troops and high-level players from the rear with my ranged skills. Even though I was attacking from a distance, points still fell into my “pocket. And I got them for killing as many low-level monsters as I did for killing one high-level monster. No one knew what China might throw out after it restored the situation in the country, the country more than once greedily looked toward the Korean Peninsula, and also talked some nonsense, including the Northeast Project.

The serpent struck the ground with all its might with black lightning and detonated mines specially prepared for the big monsters. The Water Snake probably had reconnaissance skills, since he knew about the minefield by the smell of gunpowder alone.

Now everyone’s hopes were pinned on the rankers. It is known that high-level Players were not called to the war with the monster at all, because, based on past experience of battles, it was decided that they were of little use. Therefore, top Rankers from Shenyang, Changchun and Harbin were thrown into the thick of it.

The monster roared again and some of the rankers went dumb. Never mind that their level was high, many simply lacked psychological defense skills. The Chinese government made a decision too early and mobilized the top rankers in a hurry.

The serpent activated his tail and swung it like a whip, sweeping away the frozen Rankers. Without regaining consciousness, the Players fell to the ground. Despite the healers’ efforts, many of them couldn’t get up. No one could believe what was happening, all the rankers were at a loss. None of them thought that a large part of the squad would lie down before the fight even began.

The rankers, who were representatives of the local authorities, were sure of their victory. No, they weren’t some rabble, they were the best of the best. So they believed they could prevail, but the fight began, and their confidence evaporated.

Black lightning rained down on the Runkers like bloody rain. Many activated their shields to withstand the monster’s onslaught and attacked it with various skills, but the attacks failed to reach their targets due to the hurricane surrounding the Serpent’s body.

The longer the fight went on, the more rankers were incapacitated. Those with the highest magic and stamina continued to fight, but it was almost impossible to cope with such a monster, as there was essentially no one to oppose it.

But the Rankers almost didn’t stand a chance. The survivors, after the powerful attack, admitted their defeat. It was impossible to defeat the monster with ten men.

In light of the new developments, no one had a choice but to go to plan B. Rankers rushed to run to the other end of the city, and the long-range fighters under the cover of tanks and close-range fighters activated their skills. And the blue fire spear rushed toward the Serpent. It pierced through the monster’s defenses and landed directly in the wound that had opened up after the ranker attack.

The monster let out a shriek and moved toward the fleeing Rangers. There was a border zone that way.
