Level 1 Player (MT Novel) - Chapter 44
Chapter 44 – The Second Cataclysm III
I wasn’t going to watch this quietly, so I drew my vampire sword and slit the lizard boss’s throat. Now his body, previously struggling to gather the last crumbs of strength to attack, lay on the ground without strength.
– Oh! – I burst out involuntarily.
Honestly, I’m exhausted, because after stopping the invasion of orcs, I immediately went to Namyon Station, so rest was out of the question. After the orcs, I went into battle with the lizards, and then with even stronger warriors and the boss of those lizards himself. In addition, in the battle with them I had to activate Lightning Breath and Immortality. I had to use up a huge amount of magic to maintain Breath of Lightning. And Immortality, though it restored all of my wounds, was severely weakening my physical strength. Of course, the vampire sword and the vampire orb made up for those two, but the amount of magic and physical strength I was getting was much higher than I was getting.
“Well, it’s not that bad…”
The situation on the battlefield is much calmer now. And all thanks to the killing of the boss and the warriors of these lizards.
After a while, the magical power of the lizard boss began to gather in one spot and transform into something.
“I hope something good comes out!”
To my surprise, the transformation of the item was joined by the magical power of the lizard warriors as well, and a few moments later a skill book appeared in front of me.
[Ice Breath of the Lizard King (rare)
Active ability: allows you to use ice breath using only magic.
“Oh, a rare skill!”
[Do you want to read the rare book Ice Breath of the Lizard King?]
[Yes] [No].
“Of course!” – I thought, and I chose “Yes.”
After studying the skill, I looked into Subspace and once again made sure I made the right investment. Using Subspace, I was able to collect all the stones and items dropped from the orcs and lizards on the battlefield. Of course, Subspace is an active, but completely magic-free, skill. Had I known about the stones while on the battlefield, this moment would not have been as sweet. Besides, if I didn’t have this skill, I might have missed all those stones and objects altogether. When your life is in danger, the rewards recede into the background.
“Well, it’s time to move on.”
Having replenished my stores of magic and physical strength, I rose from my seat.
Shots rang out around me-the military appeared on the battlefield with the lizards. Of course, it’s hard to use modern firearms in the dungeons, but it’s different outside. Here, on the surface, there’s a lot more to do with firepower than some swords and fireballs. I joined the troops and proceeded to sweep away the remaining lizards that were still trying to block my path.
The firepower of the army was terrifying, but inflicting mortal wounds with simple rifles was no easy task. Unlike humans, a lizard wouldn’t die from a shot or two. To kill such a creature with a rifle would require an entire automatic round.
I summoned all the Players from the battlefield and sent some of them to protect the people, while the rest gave orders to help the army. This division is necessary, because some of the lizards, hearing the shots, scattered in different directions, and some went to attack the army. If they manage to destroy the army, there will be a disaster. So the army and the Players fought side by side. Because of this decision, I was able to “capture” and observe the spatial gate.

Tanks and heavy armored vehicles are engaged at full power. On the ground, next to the military hulk ran soldiers and immediately shot the approaching monsters. And in the sky, fighter jets fought the flying creatures. The whole city was a battlefield. Dead bodies and ruined buildings were everywhere.
But no matter what, our army was strong. With almost lightning speed, it wiped out all the monsters in the immediate vicinity. A barricade was hastily erected in front of the spatial gate, allowing the monsters that tried to enter our world to be instantly destroyed by firearms.
South Korea, as well as the rest of the world, quickly enough coped with the second cataclysm. Only the damage was enormous. Battles were fought everywhere, and there was no end in sight for the victims. Compared to the rest of the world, South Korea suffered relatively few casualties, all due to the rapid response and the blocking of the gate. And also due to the army, which provided great support to the Players.
Players can easily be flown to another location by plane or helicopter. Unlike other countries, where travel and flights took a long time, South Korea is very small and mobile, so moving troops from one point to another took about half an hour or one hour at most. But in spite of this, the monsters were never completely eliminated. And the problem is that spatial gates may reopen in the country.

“No time to rest!”
I continued to fight the creatures, along with the other Players. There were about ten monsters per fighter, but as the situation got more stable, there was a lot more free space.
“I wish this gate would slam shut soon…!”
But there was very little chance of that happening. The only thing that reassured me was most of the medium-low level dungeons that opened up.
“Oh man, I’m running out of items to sell.”
Suddenly the whole world went into chaos. I haven’t had time to stock up on high-capacity batteries, but even if I look into the store, it will probably just refuse to work. Most of the population is hiding in shelters built just in case of major disasters. So there’s no way to replenish their batteries and electronics right now.
“Wow, surprisingly, more goods were bought than I thought.”
Of course, compared to normal days, sales are down a lot.
“Have we really run out of stock yet?”
I had almost all of my electronics bought up, and with it a huge amount of high-capacity batteries. But, yes, after a while sales will get back on track.
“Of course, things can get back to the way they were before, but there’s something else to take care of now.
But now I didn’t know when things would get back to normal and I could restock.
“I’d have to keep control of the amount of merchandise I sell.
If I sell all my supplies from Subspace, my buying and selling window will be completely empty! Right now I just need to keep my “business” afloat.
“I’ll have to increase the cost…”
When the quantity of goods is reduced, the price gets higher. This has always been the case. So I increased the cost of electronics, including high-capacity batteries, and closed the status window.

It was the fifth day of the boycott, but the cost of goods went up instead of down.
[What is this?]
The publisher is Bethar.
Instead of lowering the price, they have, on the contrary, increased them. Isn’t that already a wake-up call? Shouldn’t the price be fixed?
Teru: – I knew it would be. He rose from the dirt to the riches, became king, and we, those who need his objects, are his slaves. How can slaves not rebel against the king now?
Jang Mu Guk: – Don’t interfere unless you participate in the boycott.
Brax: – Don’t jump to conclusions. Let’s wait and see what happens next. Now you have a reason to accumulate enough points.
Dasha T: – I think so too. Everything ends sooner or later. If the victory ends up on the seller’s side, the seller will continue to use power.
Jin So Pyung: – I agree. If you’re going to fight, you should hold your ground until the end!
Vifar: I’ve gone soft. But yes, you’re right. If you’re going to fight, you should fight to the end.
The customers who decided to take part in the boycott were in shock for a while. But even after a week the prices had not fallen. On the contrary, they were creeping up. Now those who took part in the boycott began to question their actions and decisions, because they had all become slaves to the game consoles. For them, this piece of plastic has become a friend and companion with whom they have fun and carefree free time. In addition, the high-capacity batteries they used for their consoles tended to run out. Not surprisingly, they were now getting pretty excited.
[To everyone who took part in the boycott, thank you very much. But I think it’s time to call it a day.]
Published by Macko Weiss.
To begin, I want to say a big thank you to those who have joined my boycott. I understand that many of you are nervous about the situation, but I think the seller is having a hard time with these products, too. I’m afraid the value of the goods will not go down. If we had acted separately, we certainly would not have succeeded. But we decided to pull together. So I’d like to tell you an idea. I think we should go beyond this boycott and do a whole campaign. We’re going to have the vendors complain and ask them to lower the prices of the goods. If you agree with my suggestion, I look forward to your comments.
Vifar: – Okay. We will run such a campaign. But if he gets blocked, who will you buy goods from? As long as he’s blocked, you won’t be able to buy any of his merchandise.
Brax: – I agree. I don’t think that’s a good idea either. The seller could be blocked for three months.
Dasha T: – Yes, and we won’t be able to buy anything from him for that long. That’s unacceptable!
Jang Moo Gook: – I agree. One battery can be stretched over three weeks if you want. But for three months… No, I’m against it.
Makko Weiss: – Guys, we have to band together. If it’s every man for himself, we won’t get anywhere!
Bethar: – We banded together to get the seller to lower the price, but it didn’t happen that way. The price did not increase if we had not started the confrontation. It’s all your fault, Makko Weiss.
Jin So-pyung: – That’s right. I think thirty million isn’t such a high price. Compared to the cost of batteries these days, it’s a very reasonable price. The united buyers are now worried that they won’t be able to buy this seller’s goods for the next three months.
[An economic war I didn’t know about. A war that cannot be won.]
The publisher is Teru.
I’m just like all of you who buy and use high-capacity batteries from Choi Hyun-sung. But I am one of those who did not join your boycott. Your boycott has led to higher prices, which has caused unnecessary costs. And as you know, if there are many sellers in the market, the cost of goods can never be too high. But if that commodity is only from one dimension, then the price is always accordingly. I don’t know if you remember, but it was the same with the performance enhancing potions when they first appeared on the market. We didn’t know it was overpriced, we just bought it because we couldn’t live without it. And after a huge number of sellers in this position entered the market, prices normalized. But what would have happened if such a commodity could only be produced in one dimension? We would still have to buy a performance enhancing potion, even though it cost so much. Why? Because we need it. And the current situation is exactly the same as the one with the potion. If you don’t need these batteries, you shouldn’t care how much they cost. If you don’t buy them, you don’t need them. But those who really need them will buy them regardless of the price. It’s silly to boycott against a seller whose products you desperately need. But I don’t know if they’re worth buying now.
After Teru’s comment, all the boycotting customers tensed up. This was a battle that couldn’t be won from the start. No, not even that. With a little more effort, they could win, but the boycotters split into two camps and opposed each other.
But afterwards, something happened.
