Chapter 30 – War with the Reseller

I focused on selling game consoles, smartphones, and tablets. And speaking of batteries and rechargeable batteries, not a single complaint has been received after a month, apparently everyone is happy with the price and efficiency of the batteries. And since it worked out that way, I saw no point in lowering the price and, ignoring the threat, put the product back on sale at the same price.

[Yes] [No]

[There is a complaint from user Crowe. If the number of complaints increases, your rating may drop. Please be careful! Do you wish to read the complaint?]

[Yes] [No]

“Oh…” I mentally sighed, my mood immediately darkening.

The player who had demanded that the cost of the batteries be lowered had bought up everything I had for sale.

“Well that can’t be right.”

I added items to the trade window again. Once again everything was bought outright, and with that the complaints poured in again. Normal and normal customers don’t behave this way.

“Let’s see what happens this time.”

And the altercation began. If I added batteries, Crowe swept them away, and then wrote me up with another complaint.

“Is he just trying to get me blocked?”

It was starting to feel more like a war.

***

– How long can you stand it? – said the guy dressed in all black.

He was smiling, looking out the trade window.

There was a pile of batteries lying next to him.

“You think you can beat me?”

He’d done it more than once before. For rookies, the Trade skill was something of a blessing. This guy went through that period, too. The special skill made him stronger, and as a result he thought he was the most perfect person on the whole planet. But not everyone is perfect, even if they have a special skill.

In this guy’s eyes, such Players were nothing more than weak links, lagging behind in the races, quickly wasting their points, which no matter how hard they worked to earn, they were never enough. In other words, that’s what he called rookies. Most of them earn points while hunting and later spend them on potions and Skill Books. To this guy, points were the same thing as a shuttle.

And sometimes he was attracted to the other “critters” that inhabited his planet. Those tended to sell their specific wares and thereby accumulate points. So the newcomer Choi Hyun-sung was perfect for another victim.

“Whether you are a monopolist or not, you will kneel before the power of capital.”

The guy started buying up all the goods put out by the newcomer, and then immediately rolled up complaints about them. And he intends to continue this until the newcomer is blocked for three months. After which everything will be much easier. You just have to wait a little longer.

And what will happen in three months? Pretty much the same thing. In the end, the newcomer will be blocked again for three months. And if you repeat these steps indefinitely, he will eventually kneel down and sell items at a fixed price at a certain time. Eventually all this would lead to this guy becoming a monopolist, and the newcomer from whom these items were bought would be a puppet in his hands. The guy was well aware of this convenient loophole and used it, for if a request was not complied with, one could complain until the offender was punished.

“Hmm, have we run out?”

At this point the sales of renewable batteries stopped. Finally, he knelt down.

***

“They’ve run out…”

I sold all the batteries I had stored in subspace.

Reluctantly, I left the dungeon and got in a cab and headed for the supermarket. When I arrived and stocked up on batteries again, I put them up for sale. If I had done that in the past, I would definitely have been blocked. But I was no longer just a rookie selling ten items. Up to that point, I had managed to sell a huge number of batteries. And in order for me to get blocked, I’d have to buy even more than I’d already sold and write complaints again.

***

The invisible battle between me and Crowe continued. I kept adding items and Crowe kept buying them up. In addition, this race was also supported by regular customers, which made battery sales skyrocket. The ordinary customers helped me immensely because they didn’t write complaints, which could not be said of Crowe.

“If I leave it as it is, it will eventually eat me up with my guts. And if I give up the profits, I’ll have to give up everything.”

So I decided to raise the price of the batteries. Initially they cost 999,999 points, but I doubled it. And then tripled it. The cost of the batteries kept going up, and Crowe kept buying them up and writing complaints.

[You have accumulated more than 10 billion points]

[Your Trading Level has been increased]

[You are now the owner of a rare Trade Level]

[You can buy heroic level items]

[List of items you can buy has been expanded]

[Trade window increased to 100 items]

As a result of this race, I was able to raise my Trade level, even though it was supposed to take a lot of time. In addition, I was able to regain my former look and earn a bunch of points.

– 5,957,345,782 points.

I had almost six billion in my account!

“The Generous Tree.

I didn’t like it all at first, but now I’m really thankful for this battle.

“Eh, too bad…”

I was so eager to spend those points, but I was even more eager to make super profits. Still, there’s a limit to everything.

“This could be very dangerous.”

And that’s because the number of complaints almost equaled the original number of sales. Now it was not so easy to put an item on sale, since the adversary was still following me. Then I added a pre-prepared item and put a price of 29,999,999 points on it.

“Let’s see if you can buy this one,” I thought and removed all the batteries from the trade window, adding a thirty-million-point “bomb.”

***

“Has he finally given up?” thought the guy, casting an angry look at the trade window.

Next to it, the batteries were stacked in a small mound.

“Well, we’ve got to take a little break and recover!”

The reason Crowe was buying up batteries was to earn points. But now they were in short supply. It seemed to take a very long time for the shortage to become a surplus. When this Choi Hyun-sung quadrupled the cost, curses poured in his direction. But he bought up everything anyway.

Sometimes there are those who raise the price to snatch more profit, but after that it’s hard to stop. As a result, this will continue until they are blocked. Of course, after a strong price increase, a short break is required.

Choi Hyun-sung seems to have reached his limit as well.

“Ho!”

The asshole added something again.

“Something different this time?”

Indeed, it wasn’t the batteries that Crowe had been buying up recently.

“So what is it?” – Crowe thought, and clicked on the icon to view the merchandise.

[High-capacity battery XXX (low)]

Capacity 1000 watts per hour; 12 watts DC, 5 watts USB, 220 watts AC. Enough to charge smartphone more than 120 times, tablet more than 24 times.

[Seller: Choi Hyun-sun]

[Price: 29,999,999 points]

[Do you want to buy High Capacity Battery XXX (low)?

You can always exchange or make a refund for the item you bought.

[Yes] [No]

– This is %$#%$! – Crowe swore.

He realized it turned out to be a big battery, too. Does he have equipment like that, too? About seventy high-capacity batteries appeared in the trade window. Buy them all? They would cost a total of 2.1 billion points. And if he raises the cost again? Is it worth spending that many points? If all goes well, you can invest not 2.1 billion, but 10 times that. But there’s one problem…

“I have absolutely no idea how much it will last. Where’s his limit?”

For it to be locked in, complaints must account for 70 percent of total sales. Crowe hoped the rookie would soon run out of steam. But so far, he was still afloat. Maybe…

“Does he have other products?”

The difference between a battery and a high-capacity battery is huge. But if he has something else…

What if he’s doing it deliberately, and he’s got something else better in store? Up to this point, Crowe had drained four billion points. Of course, that amount could be increased a little more. But if he spent a few thousand more points, and he kept putting up more expensive goods? Crowe couldn’t take it anymore.

And the guy was the first to raise the white flag.

Meanwhile, the messages kept coming in, but there were no complaints.

“He seems to have given up his occupation.”

Those who were buying big-capacity batteries turned out to be customers who had been buying up regular batteries before. And Crowe wasn’t buying anything else. On the other hand, a large number of batteries began to appear under Crowe’s name.

“Who’s going to buy them from you?”

High-capacity batteries, unlike conventional batteries, have a larger capacity and, in principle, are more convenient to use. Of course, if you consider these two items in terms of price, it is cheaper to buy a lot of batteries than a single high-capacity battery. But I’m not selling necessities, I’m selling luxury items. Will VVIP customers save money on their hobby?

“It just can’t be.”

Those who have already bought high-capacity batteries will no longer buy miserable batteries.

“Because of this Crowe, I had to put Trump up for sale earlier than I had planned!”

On the other hand, it wasn’t so bad. Sooner or later I would have wondered about those batteries anyway. Sales of game consoles, smartphones, and tablets were slowly declining. Yes, if I sold single batteries to customers who had already purchased electronics, I could earn a lot of points. But I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make more.

“Looks like it’s time to start selling something else,” my thoughts raced, and I headed to the used electronics store.
