Chapter 19 – Family (Part 2)

I couldn’t change my mother’s mind. All because she wasn’t ready to quit her job so suddenly. So I had no choice but to follow her into the restaurant and just help her with her work, namely, washing dishes.

My mother used to wash the grills – the pans that were covered in grease. And that’s what I was supposed to do. I had experience in this, as I had previously worked part-time in a restaurant. And thanks to the increased capacity I managed to cope fairly quickly with their task, the other workers in the kitchen, I was even praised for it. Hearing that, my mom smiled.

My mom and I got home late at night, after the work at the restaurant was done.

Our house could be described as one small room. Previously, the apartment was 24 pyeong*, but after my father fell ill, we had to sell it. It was after that that we had to move into this little studio.

– You’re back,” a tired woman’s voice was heard as we opened the front door.

It was my older sister. Hearing her voice after all these years made my chest tighten.

It’s not hard to guess that my mother never quit her job. She said she would only leave when someone else was hired to take her place. Fortunately, the restaurant did not force people to go to work instead of someone else, or not to come at all.

My sister continued to go to work in the same way. Despite all the complaints, I don’t think she could have really left the firm. But at least she quit her temporary job.

The red eyes of the vampire bats appeared on all sides. At that moment, a scene from a vampire movie appeared before my eyes. Smelling blood, the bats bared their sharp teeth. However, thanks to the Shield skill, they couldn’t get close to me.

I activated the active skill and dialed up the magic again to enhance the attack. But putting magic into two items at once is quite problematic. Certainly, characteristics like magic and willpower have already reached a certain level, so they can be used. But for a Player who hunts in a low level dungeon, this is impossible to pull off.

I saw the bat stuck to the shield and smiled. What I was using was a trick that low-level Players who are guild members or have a lot of money often resort to. And if such a shield is used by a High Level Player, then you can hunt and attack monsters as usual.
