Level 1 Player (MT Novel) - Chapter 11
Chapter 11. Complaint (Part 3)
360,000 won*. That’s how much I managed to earn at the construction site in three days of lockdown.
(P.p.: About $320.)
– If I got my Player’s License, I would earn three times that.
For now, however, I had no other choice. Three days before the Awakening, I paid my father’s hospital bills, so I had nothing to spend. I was able to earn 360,000 won. Now I had to sell the batteries and the charger. I set a price. The charger was 9,999,999 points. The batteries, 999,999 points. It was a big deal. HOWEVER.
– Such a complaint was written, purchased obvious garbage for 999,999 points. These buyers are clearly not human beings.
So, to them, 999,999 points is change, so I could have raised the price a little more. But for now, I decided to stop at that number. I put the batteries in, but how long will the battery last after recharging? Of course it will work now. But batteries are batteries.
[00:00:00]
[You are unlocked. You can now put items back up for sale.]
I added the batteries and the charger as quickly as possible. And at the same moment, messages started pouring out to me:
[Your registered item has been purchased]
[Your registered item was purchased]
[Your registered item was purchased].
In the blink of an eye everything was bought. And a little while later, two more messages appeared:
[14 complaints about items sold were successfully closed]
[6 complaints about items sold were successfully closed]
I was finally able to get this problem sorted out. And now it’s time to add the pre-prepared electrical items. I set the price higher. And just in case, I put out another set of batteries and charger.
[Your registered item was purchased]
[Your registered item was purchased]
[Your registered item was purchased]
Once again, everything was purchased. After waiting a bit, I started adding items again. Once again, a wave of mass purchases came in. But nothing could last forever. Sales began to drop. It got to the point where 1-2 items were sold every three hours.
– Ha-ha,” I laughed so loud I thought I was going to burst a gut. – 2,128,627,491 points.
When I first woke up, I had two billion points. Now I already had 2.1 billion. I was able to get back the 2 billion I had spent, and I made 100 million more on top of that. Although it was still hard to call that a success.
– Yes, now you have to be careful about putting items up for sale.
I needed old game consoles and phones for starters. In addition, I had to stock up on electronics. Everything I could think of: I bought a camera, a razor, a tablet, a tamagotchi. In other words, all those things that weren’t available in other customers’ worlds. You had to sell a unique product.
– Now I could register with the Association.
I went back to looking like a 27-year-old guy. No, I’d even say I looked a little younger.
– If I scored a huge amount of points, would I really look like a kid?
For some reason, I was immediately reminded of a movie I watched recently. The plot was based on a story about a little newborn baby who looked younger and younger as time went on. But that was clearly not the case-Gwess Pitt and Flower Sword, who bought the items I displayed so quickly as if they were worth mere pennies, did not look like babies.
***
I stared at the entrance of the ornate building.
– There it was, the Players’ Academy.
The Players’ Academy. Among the Players, it was also called a training center or training facility. Hunting monsters was a dangerous business. Yes, when you become a Player, you get special abilities. But just a few days before the Awakening, you lived a very ordinary life. So even if you had a weapon, you couldn’t survive in a dungeon against monsters without training, no matter how good your skills and characteristics were.

In order to receive your Player’s License, you must first complete a 3-week training at the Academy. And it’s not just training. It is also an exam. What happens if you don’t pass? You have to retrain. And until you pass, you don’t get a Player’s Certificate. Besides, not everyone after the Awakening is fit to fight monsters.
– If I didn’t have this special skill, I’d probably be killed instantly.
For what it’s worth, my Awakening skill was bad luck. There were no active or passive skills at all. I wonder if it’s possible to somehow go to a dungeon and fight monsters without failing an exam and getting a certificate?
– Don’t run ahead of the locomotive. The quieter the ride, the farther away you get.
I had gained some experience when I enlisted, so I would say I was halfway through my training at the Academy. However, the best thing was not to stand out. Right now I only had level 1, although I matched players at levels 40-50 in terms of characteristics. Besides, I had 12 skills. I understood that others were not supposed to know that. If I joined a guild, it would ruin my entire original plan. You could forget about the big money.
I tried to learn as much as I could about the Players while I was working on the construction site, so I already understood how important a special skill is. Level 1 players can’t even dream of such characteristics and skills.
– The scariest part is that I don’t have to fight monsters to increase my level.
For example, Kim Hana has mechs, and she has to hunt in the dungeon to do the most good. She needs to increase her magic and willpower to use the exoskeleton more effectively. But I…
I could have been a “vending machine” anywhere. And I didn’t need my freedom to do it. I didn’t need to kill monsters, level up, or evolve. It was enough to stay alive to use the special skill at one hundred percent. So for me, showing a state window was tantamount to suicide. Even if you hide the special skill, there will be those who will look for a catch. And among them there will always be those who will be ready to break the law to achieve their goal. You can protect your wealth only if you have strength. And if you are weak and have something, only those around you will suffer. Of course, I’d like to join the guild, but then I’d have to reveal my characteristics…
– And irreparable things would happen,” I said, deciding that there was no way I would open the state window for general access.
The idea of making money that way was finally gone. Besides, I had a way in which I could earn points without buying expensive items.
– I will only provide level and skill information as a last resort.
After all, everything in the status window was each player’s personal information. It wasn’t necessary to expose everything. It would only be necessary to reveal personal information when you received your Player ID.
“Now it’s worth doing some studying,” I thought, and walked into the Academy’s lecture room.
– And these are my “classmates”? – Most of the people in the classroom were younger than me.
After a while, the lecturer appeared.
– New recruits, now I’m going to read out your training schedule. Listen carefully.
The course of the first week – the theoretical part about the dungeon, types of monsters and, of course, the levels. The second – practical exercises: how to use skills and weapons. The third – battles against each other.
– It seems that everyone knows everything.
No wonder, because all this information could be found on the Internet.
– Well, then let’s get started.
The pair began. The lecture was boring. Couples lasted 50 minutes, the breaks – 10 minutes. The lunch break was an hour. There were eight lectures a day. During the breaks and lunch break I often added items for sale.
– Tomorrow we will continue. There will be a quiz on the last day of the first week, so repeat at home everything we went over today.
After the lecturer finished speaking, the first day at the Academy could be considered complete.
– I felt like I was back in high school again.
As soon as the lecture was over, I headed straight back to my dorm.
